Thank you for your question, my name is Richard.

A line will be either the firmware that is corrupted, or more likely the actual screen controller has failed.

Firs though, when you held the power button to off, how long did you hold this for?

Thank you
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
25-30seconds is longest

Thanks

To be completely sure, I want you to do the following please.

Disconnect the power cable from the Kindle

Hold the power to off for 2 minutes, then release.

Then plug in the cable and turn it on.

Are you still getting the line Tina?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Yes

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
Thanks Tina

It is the LCD controller on the screen that has failed.

A corrupted firmware can cause this. But we have ruled this out by restarting it. The issue is the controller has failed, and it will not energize one line, which is why it appears frozen.

I am really sorry about this and you are going to have to return the Kindle to have the screen replaced. It is a known problem, so it will and is covered by the warranty, with the repair performed at no cost to you.

I am really sorry about this, and ff you have problems, or would like any additional information or assistance, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Thank you
