I have an AllWinner A20 Android Tablet, running operating system 4.2.2. When I stream services such as Netflix, BBC iPlayer and ITV Player, I get sound but no video. Any suggestions?

Hello, and thanks for your question. My name is Nick and I will help you today.

Please do a quick reset as follows:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Select Apps
  3. Select All (Look for ALL on top menu or swipe left to go right to ALL)
  4. Select Media Storage and tap Clear Data.
  5. Go back to All and select Google Services Framework.
  6. Select Clear Data.
  7. Turn off (shut down) your tablet and turn it back on.
  8. Test your issue with video again.

I have followed your instructions...I then tried BBCiPlayer...The sound appeared but no picture...the wierd things is, when I pressed the subtitle button, the subtitles worked...but still no picture.

Did you test with other apps? See if they will work or not.

You can check to see if your tablet has Adobe Flash installed or not. Go to Settings->Apps. On the list, is there Adobe Flash Player?

If not, install as follows:

  1. On your tablet, go to Settings->Security
  2. Check Unknown Sources box so you can install this Flash apk.
  3. When done, open the browser and type http://tinyurl.com/kr9o45n
  4. Press Enter and select Download.
  5. Select Open and confirm to Install.
  6. After installed, please try to watch videos on websites. They should work now.
  7. Try your apps again.

You Tube works Nick....there still seems to be an issue with the media companies and Netflix...sound but no vision...do they need more memory. I think have at least 8MB on the machine?

Please go to Settings->Apps. Select Netflix and select Uninstall. Go back to Play Store or Appstore to download Netflix again. Test to see if it will work or not.

If that worked, uninstall other apps and download them back. Test them.

If not working, Factory Reset your tablet and reinstall Adobe Flash Player. Connect your tablet to computer and backup your data if needed. Then Factory Reset as follows:

Go to Settings->Backup & Restore->Factory data reset->Erase everything. After reset, setup and download the apps back. Reinstall Adobe Flash Player. Test the apps to see if they will have video.

I have applied the factory reset and started re-installing things...YouTube is fine but the streaming services such as Netflix and BBC iPlayer are still behaving in the same way.

This could be a problem with compatibility with your tablet and these two apps.

Please try to install Netflix apk as follows:

First go to Settings->Apps. Select Netflix and select Uninstall.
Go back to Settings->Security and check the box Unknown Sources. This will enable us to install the apk.
Now open the Browser and type http://tinyurl.com/pur7lca
Press Go or Enter and select Download the apk file.
Tap Open/Install when done.
Then run this Netflix app. See if it will work on your tablet.

When and where did you purchase your tablet?

And were the apps working before then stopped working? Or they are just like this since you bought the tablet?

That means the tablet might be the problem since we already Factory Reset it. However, there could be a problem with compatibility.

I would ask you to go back to your seller and ask for a replacement tablet.
