Hello Pia! Thank you for your question. I will be assisting you today.I'm sorry about the issue. Are you having issue with Messaging app? Or another app? etc.?Or is the Galaxy Note is not working at all?
Have you tried to power off the device completely (press & hold the power on/off button for about ten seconds), then turn it back on and check? Please reply at the box below. Thank you,
Device works. How can I tell if corrupted? Message came up last week and this evening when texting. Told me to switch to auto select. don't know how or what's going on.
Here is the fix: Open Messaging app, then go to Menu (tap on menu icon/button), then go to Settings, then scroll down, then select Input mode (or something similar), then select Automatic (or Auto, or something similar.) Then try texting. Please let me know if there is still any issue. Thank you,
Can't find anything relating to input mode
Please try this: in Messaging app, go to Menu
, then tap on Settings., then tap on SMS/MMS tab at the top, then tap on Input mode (scroll down if needed), then tap on Automatic (or Auto, or something similar.) , then try texting. Please let me know if there is still any issue. Thank you,
So far no alert box. How can I tell if the phone generally has been corrupted/hacked etc?
Great. No, it's not hacked; the issue was the input/character encoding when texting, some older phones/devices cannot accept special characters from texting. You won't have any issue with texting any more with auto mode. If you are still concerned, you can download / install the free Lookout Security & Antivirus (use free option only) from Play Store app:
