Hi! My Galaxy 2 mini wont switch on, just repeats the initial

Resolved Question:

Hi! My Galaxy 2 mini won't switch on, just repeats the initial buzz and start up words on screen over and over. Do you think this is something I can fix myself, or do I need to take it in for repair? (PS definitely not the battery...swapped it out with another phone and the same thing happened).

please turn off and remove battery

then keep the on button on the device pressed for 10 secs

wait for 2 mins

michelleclive :

reinsert battery and turn on and let me know what happens

Customer:

Same thing still happening...can't get past first start up buzz

michelleclive :

ok so if i understand after the initial buzz it powers off even before getting any sort of display on the screen

Customer:

no.I get the first words on screen, samsung logo etc. but then it just buzzes again and starts over ad infinitum till i take battery out

michelleclive :

please try turning on with power adapter connected

michelleclive :

let me know if there is any change

Customer:

did that already with same result

ok now there are 2 possible causes

michelleclive :

first either the android software has crashed causing it loop in circles

michelleclive :

or second could be a fault on the logic board of the device itself

michelleclive :

please remove any sd card inserted

michelleclive :

then we will try a reset of the android

michelleclive :

let me know once yo have removed the card

sorry technophobic mom here - sd is photo card rigth?

yes the additional memory card that you have inserted in the phone

i will share the steps for the reset

michelleclive :

  • Turn your phone off.

  • With the phone off, press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key. You'll see the Android recovery screen.

  • Scroll to Wipe Data/Factory Reset using the Volume Up or Down keys. Select with the power key.

  • Scroll down to Yes, Delete User Data and select it.

  • Back on the first screen, scroll down to Wipe Cache Partition and select it.

  • Your factory reset is now complete.

  • Go to Reboot System Now to restart the phone.

ok, tried press and hold 3 as per instruction 2 nothing happened so i reconnected mains cable and it now shows recharging and no other response

hold down the volume up button

while holding down the volume up press the power button

Pressing and holding 3 buttons as per instructions does nothing so i reconnected to mains cable. briefly showed recharging symbol and now no response at all

buzzz buzz buzz and no screen

about a year

well as it does not even seem to respond the recovery key sequence that is giving an indiaction of a hardware fault with the device

so off to the shop, i guess

i would like you to try this once more

With the phone still off, hold down the Power, Volume Up and Menu buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds.

michelleclive :

if still it fails then yes this device would need a repair

michelleclive :

if its within a year, then would be within warranty cover

michelleclive :

even if its not then too this can be repaired through a samsung service store

Customer:

still no reset menu - just getting that battery charge sign

michelleclive :

in that case you need to take this to samsung service center

Customer:
