Trish, sorry for the delay. Some of the experts are not online now. Not only that, i think you posted this question on wrong section initially here and it took time to reach in correct section. Now, there won't be any delays.

I need one more information from you. What is the exact model number of your Tab ?

Trish, I'm not sure how it got locked. Since it is locked your only option is to factory reset it. Factory reset will erase everything from the Tab and restore it to fresh system. Unfortunately, that is your only option to get back to it. Samsung designed it that way. Follow the steps below to factory reset it.

  1. Turn off your Tab
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons at the same time.
  3. When logo appears on the screen release the Power button and continue press the Volume Up button.
  4. Select wipe data/factory reset. (Volume buttons to go up or down, select with Power button)
  5. Select Yes — delete all user data.
  6. Finally, select Reboot system now.
  7. Your tablet will reboot and go through setup steps. So setup it.

 

 

Please let me know if that didn't work, so we can continue troubleshooting.

It may take some time to get it into Android recovery screen. I want you try the steps again.

  1. Turn off your Tab
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons at the same time.
  3. Keep them held down until it shows a menu with several options
  4. Select wipe data/factory reset. (Volume buttons to go up or down, select with Power button)
  5. Select Yes — delete all user data.
  6. Finally, select Reboot system now.
