I have a Galaxy s3 on rental from 11/13. 8weeks ago my troubles started,
After 5 days of No Service, I rang 150 for help. During the call the customer services advisor instructed me to remove the battery, then the SIM card, which would not come out. She advised me to pick at it with my finger nail, which I did. The foil cover to the SIM card came away. She advised me to the local Orange/EE shop, which I did.
This week the phone was returned to me. I am able to connect to Wi fi but I am unable to set up email despite entering all the correct information. The most common message is 'Failed authentication'.
Help! I would welcome any suggestions as to how to resolve this issue. I have even resorted to a reboot! In hope, Gwen Davies

Please try this reset and setup your Email account on the phone again:

Note: This reset will clear your sound and notification settings. You will have to reconfigure ringtones and notifications.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Select Application Manager
  3. Select All (Look for ALL on top menu or swipe left to go right to ALL)
  4. Select Email and tap Force Stop and Clear Data.
  5. Go back to All and select Google Services Framework.
  6. Select Clear Data.
  7. Turn off (shut down) your phone and turn it back on.
  8. Open Email app and add your email account on your phone.

Sorry I haven't been back to you. I've had a busy evening!
I've just followed all your instructions to the letter and tried to get email.
First time I got Authentication failed
Second time I got Server cannot safely secure connection
What now?

Did you enter FULL email address and password?

On your computer, go to the website. Can you log into your email account?

Can't get into email on website tho' still sending and receiving emails on computer and iPad.

Did you change the password? Or please verify that you have the correct password. If you fail to log into your account using website, this could mean that your password ***** ***** incorrect.

I have contacted the service provider and am waiting for them to get back to me!

Perhaps there's a glitch somewhere!

Have tried several times to log into email via website but nothing.
It's 22.30 here in the UK so I'm calling it a day. I'll talk to the ISP tomorrow am and let you know what he says.

Have managed to get email. Chose wrong security setting. IPhone and Samsung are slightly different, which I was not aware of.
