Hello, and thanks for your question. My name is ***** ***** I will help you today.

When the tablet or phone shows this screen, we will have to Factory Reset your device in order to make it work again. This reset will erase all data on your tablet. Data on SD memory card will be unaffected.

Would you like to proceed with Factory Reset?

yes - should I take out my sim card?

Expert:  Nick H. replied 2 years ago.
Please remove SIM card. Then reset your tablet as follows:

  1. Press Power button for 2-3 seconds and select Power off.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons at the same time.
  3. When logo appears on the screen release the Power button and continue press the Volume Up button.
  4. Select wipe data/factory reset. (Volume buttons to go up or down, select with Power button)
  5. Select Yes — delete all user data.
  6. Finally, select Reboot system now.
  7. Your tablet will reboot and go through setup steps.
  8. Setup and download your apps again from Google Play Store.

If that did not work, try the steps again. And, on step 2, press Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time for about 5-8 seconds.

Thanks Carl.

If that is the case, we will have to Factory Restore using Kies as follows:

On your computer, go to www.samsung.com/us/Kies to download and install Kies. Open Kies. Connect your device to computer. Select Tools->Check updates. Install any updates available.

Or we can restore:

On your device, go to Settings->About device.
Write down Model and Serial number.
Press Power for 2-3 seconds and select Power off.
Next, press and hold Volume Down + Power.
It will show Downloading mode. If not working, power off and hold Volume Down + Home + Power for 2-4 seconds.
Connect your device to computer.
On Kies, click on Tools->Firmware upgrade and Initialization.
Enter the model and serial number.
Then follow the rest of the steps to restore your device.

Please let me know how that worked out. Thank you!

Nick
