Steve G. :

Good morning to you. My name is ***** ***** I will help you today.

Steve G. :

Has the Kindle been registered??

Steve G. :

Or are you starting from scratch here?

Steve G. :

You will also need WiFi. Do you have WiFi? Is the Kindle connected to it?

Steve G. :

Are you having trouble typing on this page?

Customer:

Starting from scratch I have WiFi. but I don't know how to connect it to WiFiHow do I register my paperwhite

Steve G. :

Ok. So this is what we need to do: connect the Kindle to WiFi and establish a connection to the outside world, and then register the Kindle with Amazon so that you can purchase and download books.

Steve G. :

The usual stumbling block here is your WiFi password.

Steve G. :

Do you know it?

Customer:

I have my WiFi password ***** when I try to imput the information it is regected

Steve G. :

Ok, does that password ***** upper and lower case letters? If so, you have to type them in as such.

Customer:

they are all in uppercace

Steve G. :

Ok. Who provides your WiFi router? Your cable company?

Customer:

sky

Steve G. :

Ok. And did they give you the WiFi password ***** is it written somewhere on the router?

Customer:

the password ***** ***** in uppercase on the card I was given

Steve G. :

Ok. I'm not sure how Sky does this but with routers you can have a 'password' that allows you to get into the router to configure it, and also a WiFi encryption key sometimes called a WEP or WPA key. Is that on the card also?

Customer:

all that I have on this card is sky4815 the password ***** the pin number

Steve G. :

Ok. So the password ***** ***** it. You could try the pin also but what I would do is remove power from the router for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and let it boot (about a minute) and then try again.

Steve G. :

While waiting, hold down the power button on the Kindle for 40 secs and let it reset.

Customer:

thanks very much I get my husband to do that for me as I am disabled. Thankyou for your help

Steve G. :

Ok. I'll be here.
