I see, and the error is coming from the media player, not the TV, is that correct? Or does the TV say something like "no input" or "no source"?

OK. You would want to try to manually reload the firmware on the device. You can do so with these steps:

Manual update (For Firmware 1.1.6 or below)
Place the Recovery.img, AML script, and 1.2.zip files and put them on an SD card via a computer.
Place the SD card into your MX2
Boot into recovery menu using the tooth pick method
The system will apply the update and then reboot
You should now be on firmware 1.2!


How to place the device in to recovery menu using toothpick method:

Toothpick Method Instructions:
Unplug the power to the box.
Using a toothpick or something similar, insert it into the back of the A/V port until you hear a slight click sound. (This is the hidden button in the A/V port and you should be able to feel the button depress)
Holding the button down in the A/V port, you will plug the box back into the power.
You should now be in recovery
