I recently downloaded software update for my Samsung Galaxy

Resolved Question:

I recently downloaded software update for my Samsung Galaxy S2 tablet and since it has not worked, the battery also fails to charge, worried I may have got a virus, is there a solution please?

please turn off phone and remove battery

now keep the on button pressed for 10 secs

then wait for a minute

reinsert battery and turn on

michelleclive :

check if the phone works and battery charges or gives the same problem

It is not a phone but a tablet I am referring to

ok...does it give any error when you try to charge

michelleclive :

and what happens when you turn it on ....does it get stuck on any screen or gives an error

Customer:

I have tried to switch off the tablet, but nothing, the battery then ran out, so I put on charge overnight but in the morning the screen would not activate and the battery has not charged

michelleclive :

unplug it hold down power for 1 minute then while still holding power plug in to the charger, then continue to hold power button for 30 seconds. then just let it go

Tried that, all that happens was that for a few seconds the battery symbol showed on the screen but not showing any evidence of charging

press and hold the power button 10 sec (without releasing it)

press and hold both power and volume down buttons for 10 seconds, then release vol. down button while holding down power button for another 10 seconds, before releasing.

try to tu turn it on by pressing power button and volume button together

ok...it seems that the software on the tab has crashed

the android os seems to have crashed post the update

is itpossible to restore the software?

that is the reason its not powering on or picking up any charge

michelleclive :

the manual way of doing it is to hold the power and volume button together....this we have already tried

michelleclive :

this method works in most of the cases.

michelleclive :

since it has not worked on your tab it seems the android os will have to be reinstalled

michelleclive :

this needs to be done by a service center of samsung

and is probably expensive?

no

it should not be expensive as its not a hardware fault

michelleclive :

only service charges would apply, had it been a faulty part, i would have myself recommended you that a repair is notcost effective

michelleclive :

its a software issue, the android software will have to be reinstalled

michelleclive :

as this needs to be done through special tools available only at service centers, it needs to be done through them

michelleclive :

you can call samsung at 0330 SAMSUNG (726 7864) and get the details of the nearest authorised service center near you
