Hi, I am A. Stevens here to help with your question!
Could you let me know, what is the make and model of your tablet
the tablet is a samsung 10.2
Great, thanks for that info.
So, the first thing to try would be a factory reset of the tablet.
Keep in mind that this will erase all of the data stored.
Do you have a good backup of the data? or perhaps you are not concerned about losing anything?
Press and hold the Power/Lock key, tap Power off, and then tap OK to turn off the tablet.Press and hold the Power/Lock key and Up Volume key at the same time.Release the Power/lock key when the Samsung logo appears.Release the Up Volume keys when the Android image appears. When the menu appears, press the Up Volume key to select wipe data / factory reset.Press the Power/Lock key to select.Press the Down Volume key to scroll to Yes – delete all user data.Press the Power/Lock key to select.Press the Power/Lock key to select reboot system now.
This is how to perform the factory reset.
All that has been done i now have a android with a downloading on it
So it seems that you are in download mode.
You should be able to get out of Download mode by pulling the battery out, waiting about 30 seconds, and then putting it back in.
i have a galaxy tab 2 10.1 gt-p5110
the problem is when i press the power button it comes on but on start up it gets stuck on the samsung screen and goes no further. even when i have done a factorty reset it doesnt do anything and still stays on the flasshing samsung sign. this has only happened after i tried to do the update it was completely fine and working before i tried to do the update.
I understand...sometimes updates will cause these issues when they don't install correctly.
You may have to manually reload the firmware on the device.
You would need to do this using a software called ODIN
Do you have a PC or Mac computer?
I can provide you with the links you need to download
yes can you provide me with the links please
Download Link for ODIN Flashing Software
Download Link for Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 WiFi (GT-P5110) Stock Firmware (UK Region)
Also you need Samsung Kies installed, just to make sure that your computer recognizes the tab
Then here are the steps on how to use ODIN to flash the stock ROM
HOW TO UNROOT/BACK TO STOCK/UPGRADE/DOWNGRADE GALAXY TABLET DEVICES FIRMWARE/STOCK ROM
WHAT YOU NEED/PREPARATION:

Note: DO NOT RUN KIES together with PC Odin
HOW TO FLASH GALAXY TABLETS DEVICES FIRMWARE/STOCK ROM USING PC ODIN:

Next you`ll see two icon, choose Download mode6. Connect galaxy tab to PC7. Back to PC Odin, When you saw the field background color turn to yellow that`s mean your galaxy tab ready for flash8. Click Start button, wait until your all process is done and reboot9. When the flashing is done, at Odin, left top, you`ll see text PASS.
Hopefully this process will fix your tab.

I apologize it must have died at some point.

You can download it there, but you just need to create a free account to access it.
