I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. I allowed it to carry out

Customer Question

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. I allowed it to carry out an Android update and it became unusable for email - (it's main use). I have reset to factory settings and I cannot get it to through the setup process again and so I have done a "hard reboot" without any discernible difference. It's about 18 months old.

Hello David! Thank you for your question. I will be assisting you today.

I'm sorry about the issue. Is there any error or message when setting up your email on the Samsung tablet?

Are you still able to use the Internet on the tablet?

What email do you use, such as Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, AOL, etc.?

Please reply at the box below. Thank you,

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

No to most of the questions. Because I have done a Hard reboot I need to setup the tablet again but it get's to the screen where it says that it uses your name to personalise some apps and then stays there forever.

I am concerned that the Hard Reboot was not not "hard" enough because it still remembers the names of all the networks that I've ever connected to.

Expert:  Viet - Android Tech replied 2 years ago.

Did you hard reboot this way: press & hold the Power on/off button on the tablet for about 20 seconds, then turn it back on and check?

When you are available, please reply back at the box below to continue. Thank you.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Yes I've already answered this question.

I did the hard reboot and the setup process then starts but I cannot get past the screen which says;

This tablet belongs to...

and below

The tablet uses your name to personalize some apps.

FOR info:

I am continuously available for the next 2.5 hours to resolve this problem

Sorry, I did not see your reply until now; please only reply at the box below on this web page.

Can you press & hold the power button for about 15 seconds to power off
, then press & hold at the same time the 3 buttons: Volume Up, Home, Power until the android logo / menu appears (for about 10 seconds or so)
, then use the Volume Down/Up button to select the wipe data/factory reset, then press the Power button to confirm
, then when it's done, press Power button to reboot
, then check.

Please let me know. Thank you

In the interim, whilst I was waiting for you, I did exactly what you suggest and I am back at the screen described above i.e. This tablet belongs to etc. etc.

Expert:  Viet - Android Tech replied 2 years ago.
Sorry, it did let you do a factory reset, but still get stuck at This tablet belongs to..., i.e., it does not let you tap or swipe on any option , etc.? Thank you.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

It appeared to do a Factory reset then I selected the option to REBOOT and then started the setup process until I put in my name, tapped on the right arrow and it just sits at that screen. In my opinion it's not doing a complete reboot because it still offers me the option of connecting to every wifi point where it's ever been - conclusion memory not cleared!

Did you see the wipe data/factory reset that you can select, and confirm yes - delete all user data?

Can you download and install the Samsung Kies software on your computer, then plug in the tablet to the computer and use the Kies program on the computer to restore/fix it?

Thank you
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Yes I've done that - do I go to Firmware recovery?

Expert:  Viet - Android Tech replied 2 years ago.
Yes, please do firmware recovery, thank you.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Nothing seems to be happening - should the tablet be on or off and what should I be seeing. There is a box which opens which says that if firmware recovery doesn't work then I'll see it in the box and another option asking for a recovery code. How will I know if anythings happened because the tablet is on the same screen as before?

Expert:  Viet - Android Tech replied 2 years ago.
Sorry, it's not working. Can you close the Kies program, then download the firmware at the website below, and run it:

Hi

This is complicated - can you download the file and send it me?

Expert:  Viet - Android Tech replied 2 years ago.
Sorry, what's the exact model of your Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 tablet, such as GT-P5110TSABTU?

And what's your location?

Thank you
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Don't know how to find complete info - it's a GT-P5110 with FIRMWARE PDA: NH2/CSC:NH2(BTU) I guess I would have to do another hard reset to find the rest of the info if you really need it. I can - just tell me?

Expert:  Viet - Android Tech replied 2 years ago.
That's okay, what's your country? Thank you.
