I recently bought a Samsung note 3 husband. but having problems with it. first he got it started up but it discharged his battery. he replaced the battery with a fully charged one. but phone only starts up to show part of the blue circle then freezes, and makes a noise like a stuck record have you any idea what the cause is and how to rectify

It can be a number of causes so we will need to eliminate this.
First, can you power it off.
Then Press and hold both Volume Up + Home+power on.
Tell me if this gets you to the recovery menu please

nothing happens screen is still black ,no menu

Where you able to completly turn it off?

It is the internal mainboard that has faulted.
A corrupted firmware can cause this. But we have ruled this out by trying to reinstall it. The fact that we cannot get to the recovery window, confirms it is the memory that shorts out, and causes the device to stall.
I am really sorry about this and you are going to have to return the note to have it replaced. It will be covered by the warranty, and the replacement will be done at no cost to you.
