Customer Question

Good morning - I have a antique silver boxed set comprising of 2 salt cellars, 2 pepper pots and 2 mustard pots plus four spoons. The salt and mustard pots have blue glass holders and everything is hallmarked as follows: S LP. (could be IP. but difficult to tell even with a magnifying glass) Birmingham Anchor, Lion and initial Z. A rough valuation would be appreciated.

Chris,
I was able to locate the marks on your set before I went back to sleep.

The hallmarks on your set -
S L.D - sponsor/maker William Suckling Ltd mark used 1922-1962
Anchor - symbol assay office in Birmingham, UK
Lion Passant - walking lion - UK stamp symbol for sterling silver (.925)
Z - date letter style for 1924 for date of assay

Your lovely boxed condiment set has a retail vintage store value of $400 (USD) or
255 GBP at today's rate.

A private seller to a dealer can expect 40-60% of retail value.

I hope I have helped you.
