Customer Question

I have a small EWave EWUF 5W upright freezer.

It recently shut it self off. After cleaning out the unthawed food I unplugged it, allowed it to sit for 6 hours and plugged it in again. It shut itself off again almost immediately.

What kind of problems is it experiencing?

Optional Information:
Make: EWave
Model: EWUF

Already Tried:
unplugging and allowing motor, etc to cool.

Hello,

Do you hear a clicking sound from the back where the compressor is located?

Would the compressor start again after a few minutes if you leave it plugged in?

Have you checked your condenser coil if it is dirty?

Customer replied 836 days and 3 hours ago.

Yes, I hear a click when it shuts off ---- again, normally within less than a minute.

No, the compressor will not restart.

normal dust on the condenser but not coated in layers.

Ok, thank you for that info. It seems your compressor can not start or it is drawing too much current because of a burnt winding or an overheated winding.

You can start with the starting component at the side of the compressor. This is compose of a two part component. The PTC relay and the overload protector. They are used to start the compressor. If the PTC is rattling, then it is already defective. Try to replace these parts and if still the compressor would not start, then you have a bad compressor .
