We have an EWave microwave oven purchased in June, 2003 & has worked great until now. Everything seems to work except it's not heating, defrosting, warming, etc. (vital problem). When I press the Power pad on the control panel there's no number (10) only a symbol that looks like a cross or maybe a small letter 't', if I touch power again, a double dash appears (--). Is this something that can be repaired? We previously were able to change power levels. Thanks, Cheryl Miller 12:50p Have not rec'd any more responses yet...what's up?
Optional Information: Make: Ewave Model: KOT-170SB Already Tried: Unplugging/plugging back in. Checked Control Lockout & Auto Start were not programmed.
this is something that can be repaired but probably not worth repairing. When a unit looks and sounds like it's working, but in reality it's not heating--it means that the magnetron which produces the microwaves has failed and will need to be replaced. This is a $100-150 part so it's generally not worth replacing.
Thanks for your response, however according to our warranty the magnetron is warranted for a period of 8 years (which we're still within). Is it worth the hassel and what is involved for warranty service?
If it's under warranty then yes, I would definitely call warranty in order to correct the issue.
