Hi Tom, I have a JennAir side by side refrig and have noticed that the freezer has a great deal of rust along the back panel. The model#JCD2290HES and the serial #11876209GP. Is this a problem that you have experienced with this model? It seems to be happening with the mechanics behind the back metal panel. Thanks for your help
Hello I'm Larry and thank you for using this service. I'll be helping you with your problem today.are you talking about on the back side of the fridge?
No, the freezer. I am defrosting the freezer and the back panel is all covered with rust along the edges and vents. There is an orange deposit that resting at the base of the freezer that looked like it leeched out at some point.
i have seen this before ,, it will cause a build up along the sides and down at the bottom by the vents when it goes into defrost ,, it isn't anything to worry about ,, thanks
It's a large mess and rather discerning. Are you sure that this is normal? What causes the rust?
is it rust or dust? ,,, i'm sorry i thought you said dust ,,, rust is not normal .. this is caused dut to the drain being stopped up and to open it you will remove the inside back panel, pour hot water into the troft under the coil and flush it out unit the water drains as it should and it will be ok ,, you can sand down the panel and paint it if you like but leave it as it is will be fine ,, thanks
That seems like a lot of work for a relatively new appliance. It also means that the drain has been blocked since the installation. Is there any recourse if it was an installation error? Who do I contact, Maytag or the appliance store that sold and installed the unit?
you would need to contact Maytag themself ,, 1(NNN) NNN-NNNNU.S. 1(NNN) NNN-NNNNCanada
