I have a fisher paykel washer, it started smoking and I could smell a hot wire smell, so I turned it off. My husband said that it was the pump. So we ordered a new one. Followed the instructions to replace it, and now it won't drain. What do you think is wrong?
Optional Information: Make: Fisher Paykel Model: WA37T26G Already Tried: New pump. I don't know what else to do.
Hello, and thank you for using this service. I'll be helping you with your problem today.Tip the washer back and turn the fan on the bottom of the pump. Does it turn smoothly? Did you reconnect the wires to the drain pump? Does everything else on the washer work it just won't drain?
yes to all of the above
ok then, do you hear the drain pump running when it should be draining or is the washer completely silent?
I hear a faint buzz, but I know the pump isn't running
ok then you need to test to see if the motor is getting 120 volts when it should be draining or not. If it's getting 120 volts (you need a multimeter to test this) and it's not draining, then you need to warranty out the drain pump because it's faulty. If you don't have 120 volts, then the main relay control board under the control panel in the far back right corner is shorted (likely from the drain pump before) and it will need to be ordered and replaced to fix the issue.
Is it a new board or just the relay?
you can't replace just the relay. Just the relay on the board is likely bad, but the entire board will need to be replaced.
ok thank you
no problem and good luck.
