I have an old Roper of 1960 model #RAX7245ALD.It stopped spinning. I hear light rattle when in the motion.I don't see a belt like whirlpool machine. Can anyone walk me to fix this problem?
Optional Information: Make: Roper Model: RAX7245ALD Already Tried: I laid it down to see the bottom of the machine.
The model number you have given is NOT a 1960 model unit ,,at most it is 1987.
Will the unit drain the water out of the tub?
Hello there. Yes It does drain water.
Ok Then I suspect you have a broken Motor coupling .

Hello there again,I went a local Sears store and obtained the parts and replaced them. The existing rubber cussion had enlarged hole.I put them back together and run the machine. Still the same problem. It drains but it just makes a rattly noise with some agitator movement. It does not spin.
When in the agitation mode does it seem to agitate properly?
Hello there,Yes the agitator works just fine.Nori
ok if it agitates fine ,drains fine ,but makes the noise in spin and does not spin, .
If you have it in spin with a pen or pencil in the lid switch hole.
Can you turn the inner tub by hand and if so will it then start to spin?
Yes I can turn the inner tub by hand. It will not engage spinning though.Nori
ok so that mean it is the transmission .
Here is a link to the part , it even has a replacement video.

Now I do not know how much you want to spend on the unit ,
BUT I have the same design and will never give it up ,
with all the water saver units out there now,
This design is a washing son of a gun.
Helo there,I think I will give up the machine. I see some wear and tear when I replaced motor coupling.I agree with you on the choice of washer. I have newer machine with the all the water savings feature. I like old style machine.Nori
Ok ,GLad to assist you and Thank you .
Happy Holidays
I am not sure if I should be continuing to ask you the question on different washer. Should I start my question brand new? Here is what my problem.I got a used kenmore 80 series washer through Craigs list. Its been working fine untill yesterday. It stopped working.I hear the motor trying to run but it doesn't. The humming noise. It doesn't discharge water, spin, or agitate.I just hear that there is a load when turned on. It stopped at the rinse cycle last time it was working.
Im sorry But if it is a differant appliance .
Pre Just Answer policy I am not able to assist you ,unless you make another question .
