My Maytag PYE2300AYW dryer wont start
Optional Information: Make: Maytag Model: PYE2300AYW Already Tried: I made sure the 220 line wasn't tripped. It seems to be fine. I checked the fuse by the heater coil insdied the top of the machine and it is fine. Is there another accessible place to look for a fuse for the unit?
Hi, thanks for using JustAnswer.com. Please remember, I do not get paid for my time and expertise until you accept. How did you check the fuse on the RH side by the bottom of the heater? Is the door switch clicking if you manually push it in?

The fuse that I checked is located on the top side of the heater coil. The dryer opens likes a car hood and the fuse was on top. I took the fuse to an appliane parts shop and they tested it - it was good. The door is making a solid clicking noise when I shut the door.
That is not the fuse you tested. The fuse is below the element on the RH side and will likely have two white wires going to it. Unplug the dryer and remove those two wires and tape them together. Plug the dryer back in and see if it then starts. If it does, as I suspect it will, that fuse will need to be replaced. Let me know what happens.

Unfortunately that did not work. Could it be something in the dial that turns it on or the door latch switch?
Could be, does it make any noise when you push the button?
it does click when it passes the start or off position. I noticed a black connector toward the front of the dryer with 2 white wires connected. Is that a fuse?
I don't think so but where exactly is it?
it is located inside of the front panel of the dryer, top right. I think it is the switch that triggers when the door is closed because it has a white button that stick through and gets depressed by the door when it closes. Overall, there is something not "firing" when we try to start it. Should I reconnect the white wires that I taped together?
Oh yes, that is the door switch. That should be mounted on the front panel, correct? Yes, you may connect those wires. Do you have a meter to test with?
Yes, it is mounted on the front panel. Unfortunately I do not have a meter.
Okay, if the switch clicks and you bypassed the fuse, we have gone about as far as we can without a meter.
Okay. Last question when I disconnected the white wires I neglected to mark which ones go where. They are labeled F1 and F2. do you have an idea which goes on the top or bottom of the fuse?
Also, this dryer is ten years old. What is your recommendation on replace versus repair/life expectancy?
That is just a switch, it doesn't matter which wire goes where. Life expectancy is around 9 years, suggests Consumer Reports, the manufacturers say 8 years.
