I have a GE Profile top-load washer, with lo-water infusor

Customer Question

I have a GE Profile top-load washer, with lo-water infusor system instead of a traditional agitator.
Model# XXXXX 6050 MOWT
My wife had a long strip of fabric (36" x 1") in with the last load of clothes, and it has become wound/jammed under the infusor hood.
I can grab both ends of the strip, there is a small amount of play (maybe 2" of sliding back and forth), but I can not pull the strip from one side or the other and have it come through. I'm guessing it's knotted or wound over itself several times under there, wound around whatever pivot/post/whatever that the infusor hood mounts on top of.
If I could simply remove the big infusor (agitator) hood, i'm sure I could see what the problem is. However, all my attempts to research how to remove that infusor hood have come up empty. I did look at the parts diagram for this model on GE's website, but it just looks like the infusor hood "snaps" down on some kind of pivot/post, and does not fasten down with a screw/bolt.
Does anyone have advice on how to remove the big plastic infusor (agitator) hood for this GE model? Thanks in advance.

Expert's Answer

Welcome...That is correct..Part #300..Snaps off of part #310..It is held on by plastic tabs..Grasp a hold of #310..Give it a quick snap up..It will come off..To reinstall snap it back down onto part #310..Also please remember to use the accept option before leaving today..Thanks Bob

Customer Reply

Hi Bob - thanks for the quick reply.
I just want to make doubly-sure that I won't damage the mounting/pivot parts or otherwise affect the balance of my wash barrel by just using good 'ol-fashioned elbow grease to yank that part #300 off of its plastic clips.
Do you recommend grabbing it by the "neck" of part #300 near the top? Or grabbing around the edges of the lower/outer flange?

Thanks in advance for your continued advice.

Yes it does sound kind of barbaric..But that is how it is removed..The trick is to give it a quick snap up..For the tuff ones you can use a rope to remove..CLICK HERE FOR VIDEO
