2008 Frigidaire 20.6 ft3 top freezer refrigerator P/N XXXXXXXXX bottom door has reached an intolerable point of mal-alignment, requiring lifting and firm manual closing to completely close and seal the gaskets. The hinge bracket, as designed and shipped, had three ¼”-diameter sheet metal screws with hex heads, all of which have stripped. Machine bolts of similar diameter (no nuts can be attached due to lack of access to opposite side of frame) have replaced the screws, but this only bought a few months of time. Every opening and closing now is a problem. The bracket should have been bolted to the frame if it had been properly designed, but that’s another matter. How can this problem be fixed? Is there something I can do with new parts, or will this require a special fix. I suspect this has been a recurring them on this model, only 3+ years old. There has been no incident that suddenly caused this problem. It is the result of repeated opening and closing and the amount of torque and stress that the hinge bracket is asked to support based on the weight of containers stored on the very generous internal door shelves.I am located 2 miles from Coatesville, PA. Are there local service providers for Frigidaire refrigerators? Please provide names and phone nos. of such providers, if this requires a professional. XXX@XXXXXX.XXX

Hi Im John I will help you with the hinge problem.
It is a problem with that huge door and all the bottles you can store on the shelves.
I would use a Rivet gun and use the biggest rivet you can use to attach the bracket .
I would also reduce the amount of weight you put on the shelves.
It should work and a cheap fix to boot.
Let me know how you make out.
The diameter of the bracket holes will limit the size of the rivets that can be used. Should all three hold in the bracket be afixed to the frame with rivets? Are there likely to be any obstructions inside the frame that could be prevent the rivets from being affixed or be damaged by using the rivet gun?
You can use the biggest rivet you can find , all you do is drill the holes a little bigger.
Its only thin sheet metal and nothing behind to stop you from doing the repair with the rivets.
