Ok, I just asked this question but, prefered to go into my account to ask it again. We have a Kenmore HE2 front load washer. It has begun to vibrate on spin cycles. It is also noisy. It gets so bad that it "walks" around the room when spinning. Thanks,Mike
Optional Information: Make: Kenmore Model: HE2 Already Tried: nothing
Hello Mike
Hello
I see your problem
Now you say it is loud when spinning...is the unit making a roaring noise when it gets up to speed?
I can't say that it roars but, its louder than usual
Ok are you by the machine
no
can you be?
yes
i'll move there now
ok
Open the front door and grab the bottom edge of the stainless inner tub. Now pull up and down slightly on it. It probably has some play in it maybe 1/8" or more correct
more than 1/8"!
There should not be any play at all.
i can also hear that there must be water in the bottom of the tub that I cannot see but can hear it sloshing
The bearings are shot in the rear of the machine, this is a common problem and on certain models whirlpool was covering this.
How old is your unit
purchased in 2006
It may be out of the coverage but do you have the model
number
will have to turn it around to see model number...front says HE2
Look at the inner door frame it is there
110.46462501
hang on one sec
here is a diagram of what you would need, but I am still checking on the warranty
you will need part #10 and #8
that looks worse than a carburetor!
I meant #11....the parts alone are around $500
will there be an alignment problem...close tolerances?
Wow, might be best in not under warranty to just buy new washer
If the inner tub falls any further it will ruin the front cover and you will have melted plastic strips all over.
I had an extended warranty on it and let it expire. Should I contact Sears to check on warranty on bearings?
Now the inner tub assy is covered for 10yrs and since they have had so many problems with the bearing that they have been covering as they come in. The last tech class I went to they advised that Whirlpool was covering certain models under warranty. They may cover yours. I know it says Kenmore , but it is a Whirlpool product. Now if you can;t get anywhere with Whirlpool what you can do if you want to deal with Sears(they suck) go and setup service on there online chat they have not caught on yet as far as giving someone an all inclusive price on front loaders. You can get them to setup service for your front loader for around $179(parts and labor). Do it and save your transactions online saying this they have to honor it and they lose there *** on it.
I am sure at some point they will catch this, but not yet...so you might as well try and take advantage of it. The downside is dealing with Sears service is like punching yourself in the face repeatedly.....
Hey, I like the idea of saving $300. Lot cheaper than buying a new one, too.
Ok, I'll contact Sears. I have their phone number with the old warranty on file and will push them to get 'er done.
Yeah no kidding. I would try Whirlpool first to get it fixed for nothing and then try Sears if you do not get anywhere. I wish I had better news. If you do buy another front loader Bosch has a far superior bearing support designs...few breakdowns on there machine.
I hope this helped you out
