i was talking with another tech. and don't know what happened. I have a frigidaire washer model # XXXXX that sounds like it is out of balance during regular cycle operation and really out of balance during spin cycle. This happens also when there are no clothes in the washer. There is also a metal on metal sound at low rpms. The machine is level and I have put a cup of water infront of the machine during the spin cycle and there are no ripples in the water.
Optional Information: Make: frigidaire Model: FTF2140ESO Already Tried: Machine is Level. Not water ripples in a cup infront of machine during spin cycle. Shocks look good.
Hi Im John I will help you with the washer problem.
The most common part to fail in that washer are the supports if their worn the tub will go off balance.Replace the supports it should fix the problem.

how do I know it's not the bearings
The bearings would sound like a jet taking off , your problem is going off balance.

All you have to do is remove the front panel you should see a broken shock absorber.
i've had the panel off and the shocks are fine
The shock absorbers don't have to be broken the become weak .
Replacing the shocks should fix the problem.
what about the metal on metal sound that I'm hearing. My big concern is that this started about a week ago and only on the spin cycle now it happens during the regular washing agitation cycle as well.
The noise metal on metal can also be caused by the shock absorbers.
My suggestion to replace them should fix the problem.
