Laundry dryer DE04, DG04 drum making operating noise like worn bearing or other moving part.Need to open up to examine for cause. It appears the lower back plate is removable by taking out screws and spreading side sheet metal. However, there seems to be screws or a snap fitting on the top plate that is not accessible without lifting the top cover.Am I pursuing the proper path to getting to see the drum moving parts? How do I get the top plate open to finish freeing the back-plate?
Optional Information: Make: Fisher Paykel Model: DE04,DG04 Already Tried: To remove back cover to view drum moving parts for wear
This is actually a GE dryer that FP put their console and name on. The most common noise is from a worn bushing at the drum axle or the idler pulley. Only the front needs to come off here-not the back. Just remove the 2 screws at the top of the door opening to release the top. Once that is off the rest is pretty self-explanatory.MRANSWER40931.8009710648
Good answer...located the 2 screws.....think they installed them with a torque gun...managed to get one out, the other is frozen beyond the torque I can apply with my philips head driver. Can,t drill it out as it is a recessed thread. Any "tricks of the trade" you can share?
Drill it out then- there will be plenty of it left to put pliers on to remove. Other than that everything will be visible here and you should have no problem seeing the cause of the noise. Most common noises are from a worn drum bearing or idler pulley.
