Due to power outage and probable surge our Kenmore ceramic top (top works) 3 year old electric range has no display and touch pads functioning. So therefore no oven. The micro/range hood also has no display so not useable either.
Already Tried: Breaker switches tried and hired an electrician who thinks everything on these two items per their displays are fried.
Hello,if both appliances have voltage, then the surge took the display boards out. Its actually common on these units. I see this happen several times a month. You will need to replace the boards to fix the issue. if you are handy, you can make the repair fairly easy.
You have confirmed what we already knew. I thought you might have an answer that would tell us that there was a reset or other type of means to get these two appliances operational. Sears can probably fix them. Please answer whether you think they will be fixable. I don't want to pay them $109 for each appliance to have them tell me they cannot be fixed. Can you tell us what it costs to replace the display boards. Is it worth it to do this or should they be replaced.
Yes you can fix them and like I said if you are handy you can because its very easy. The range board is around $125 dollars and the micro board is around the same. On average it cost total part, labor and trip, around $300 to fix both. it will be worth fixing the oven but probably not the micro
