Kenmore HE2t washer making a banging sound behind drum, upper left side. Sounds like metal or something hitting. Drum spins without catching. Any ideas?

It started while a load was in. Removed clothes and set it to spin while empty. Continued making noise. Original load was small.
ok then unfortunately you have a big issue. Your inner basket support arm has broken. There are 3 arms attached to the back of the basket and if one of them goes bad it will bang when the tub spins. The big problem is that it requires a new inner basket to fix the problem and the cost of repair is about $600 or so.
So this is a technician only repair, due to the parts required?
If you're really really handy, you can take your washer all apart and replace the basket. The basket takes the better part of an entire day to replace, and the part itself is usually about $300 or so?
