I have dishwasher G 841 SC. Drain/Intake light flashing. I have cleaned drain area twice.Still flashing. Looking for suggestions.
Optional Information: Make: Meile Model: 841 SC Already Tried: have cleaned drain area twice.
Hello, and thank you for using this service. I'll be helping you with your problem today. The flashing drain/intake light doesn't mean you have a problem with your drain, it just means you have an error with your dishwasher. You need to press and hold the clear/cancel button on your dishwasher for 5 seconds to reset the error so that you can start a new cycle and see what might be wrong.Select a new cycle and the dishwasher should drain for the first 15-30 seconds, then it should fill, then wash. Depending on where it stops will indicate if you have a drain problem, a fill problem, or a circulation motor that has failed.
Thanks for taking this on. My washer does not have a clear/cancel button. It has an on/off button (brings power); a start button; and a dial offering several cycles and one position labeled "stop."
ok, well one of them is your cancel button. Just press and hold each one for 5 seconds and that should clear the cycle. I think the on/off button is the one, but you may need to try the start button also.
didn't work. held both buttons down for 5 seconds. also tried cycling on and off. Every cycle has the machine on, can hear it, one minute goes by, the light starts flashing. I have about a half inch of water at the very bottom of the drain.
one other thing. this problem developed same time as general failure of the undersink garbage disposal. I swapped out the disposal today, and checked the drain hose from the dishwasher, and it seemed clear.
It's possible that the water backed up and is in the base pan of the dishwasher now. Either the dishwasher will need to be uninstalled and and the bottom panel removed to drain all the water out, or you can wait about a week or two and it will dehydrate on it's own.
Anything a shopvac can fix without pulling it all out?
not without pulling it out.
okay. I am assuming there is no magic to pulling it out? I just drag it forward, right? no pitfalls there? and then what am I looking for on the backside in terms of a pan of water?
You may need to disconnect the power plug, the drain line, and the fill hose depending on how long they are and if you have enough room to pull it out.
okay. and what am I looking for on the backside?
nothing? There isn't anything on the backside except the power line, drain hose, and the fill hose.
Wait. I thought I was pulling it out because I needed to get at some collected water? You said above: "the dishwasher will need to be uninstalled and and the bottom panel removed to drain all the water out." I am asking about that. About what the bottom panel is all about. Is it literally the floor of the whole unit? Is there likely to be a latch at the rear that lets me get to it? will it be bolted? that's what I am getting at.
It's the plate on the bottom of your dishwasher. There are 4 screws holding it on that you need to unscrew to remove it once you tip the dishwasher backwards.
Okay. And so there is water collected there possibly, and I am just letting it run out and then letting the whole thing dry, if that's what the cause of the problem is, right? Am I getting this?
yes. You will still need to press and hold one of the button to get rid of the drain/intake light error once the water has been removed.
