Customer Question

I have a GE countertop microwave, model # XXXXX I was heating food in microwave and it just stopped heating. When I hit start I hear a couple of clicking sounds and the clock goes to :30 seconds and starts counting down

hi, so the time counts down but you dont hear any noises? does this happen no matter what time you put the microwave on for?

it will only set to :30 seconds?

if you lift up or down on the door handle can you get it to start for a few seconds?

nope

only 30 secs on all settings? what about popcorn or beverage settings?

Customer :

popcorn goes to 2:00 minutes. It clicks twice but no heat and starts counting down. same for beverage but it starts at 1.20.

you need the door switches changed..it will count down but wont energize the heating components ..the door switches are not making contact and are most likely arced inside

there are 3 of them and a monitor switch

u change them all when u change one

how much does that normally cost?

usually $20 per switch $80-$100 in parts

depending on cost of MW it may be cheaper to buy a new one
