I have a SL400A Gigaset telephone system with five handsets

Customer Question

I have a SL400A Gigaset telephone system with five handsets and it has stopped ringing and going to answer phone. My telephone line is fine and I get a red flashing light to tell me I have missed a call. I have tried unplugging and plugging the base in but that has not changed anything - help!

Hi Jayne,

Here's a couple of things to try for a start:

1. Make sure Silent Alert is not activated:

In idle, press right on the control key > Spanner > Audio Settings > Silent Alert (Press Change to activate or deactivate)

2. Make sure the ringtone is not deactivated:

In idle, press and hold the star key to activate or deactivate

Let me know if this helps, if not I'll investigate further.

Best Regards,

Richard

Hi Jayne,

For the Ringtone:

In idle, press and hold the star key to activate or deactivate - on the display you will see a bell with a cross means deactivated, just a bell is activated.

Another possibility is that the ringtone can be activated/deactivated for unknown calls:

In idle, press right on the control key > Spanner > Audio Settings > Anon. Calls (Press Change to activate or deactivate).

It could also be that all calls have been set to divert:

In idle, press right on the control key > 'a round symbol with 2 arrows poining inwards' > All Calls > Divert (set the Status to deactivate).

If none of this helps try resetting the base to default settings:

In idle, press right on the control key > Spanner > System > Base Reset > Enter System Pin / Press OK > Press the display key.

Let me know if this helps, if not I'll investigate further.

Best Regards,

Richard

Richard,

Many thanks for your reply. I have checked the anon and the ringtone to see and all is as it should be. I have also reset the base station but nothing has changed still the telephone does not ring. I have checked the ringtones on the phones themselves and they all work so it is not the telephones themselves it must be the base station. Do you have any other ideas?

Kind regards

Jayne

Hi Jayne,

If you disconnect the base station from the telephone socket and plug a standard phone in, then ring tat number from your mobile - does that work OK?

Richard
