Appliance Repair Questions? Ask a Technician for Answers ASAP
Thank You for using JustAnswer - My name is Tony and I am more than happy to help with your question today.Start by making sure the belt is still intact by removing the top cover lid.Two screws at the back will remove the cover.Even if you can see the belt, check that it has tension.Try the dryer again with the cover off.Keep your hands and fingers away and switch on.Can you hear the motor turning or trying to turn.
Hi done that, can't hear the motor trying to turn at all. There is an audible click when i press start, but nothing else
We know there is power to the front of the machine because the lights come on but you need to check that the door switch is making and breaking. In other words has it continuity so power can be applied to the motor. You can check the door switch using a multimeter.Do you have a meter and know how to use it.
not got a meter.
Is the belt tight on the drum?
Normally if the motor doesn't start it's either because the door switch is not being made or the start capacitor has failed. If it was the start capacitor then the motor would make a humming noise when it tried to start. You really need access to a meter so you can check some things out.
Start with the door switch, make sure it operates correctly and there is power through it.When your done come back and let me know how you got on.Bye for now.
