Drum not rotating

Customer Question

Drum not rotating
Submitted: 3 years ago.
Category: Appliance
Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.

Hiya,

When you try using the machine, what exactly happens?

Can you turn the drum fairly easily by hand?

.

Thanks

Customer: replied 3 years ago.
When I press the start button the top light comes on the machine attempts to start 3 times then the top light goes out and the third light come on, bleeps to signal end of programme.
Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.

Hiya,

OK, and the other question I asked?

.

Thanks

Customer: replied 3 years ago.
It has the same resistance as when it was operating normally
Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.

Hiya,

OK, thanks for that.

Not sure what you mean by "tries to start 3 times" but, we'll see if there's a stored error code in memory.

.

Turn the dial to off.

Press and hold the start button along with the button to the left of it.

While holding both buttons, turn the dial 1 click clockwise.

.

The lights should flash, release the buttons and they should scroll.

.

If they scroll, turn the dial a further 10 clicks clockwise.

.

Count the flashes from the end led and let me know how many.

Count the flashes from the start led and let me know how many.

.

Turn the dial to off, to any program and back to off.

.

Thanks

.

Start led flashes 2 times. End led flashes 3 times
Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.

Hiya,

Thanks for that.

The machine is reporting the sensor is faulty.

.

Unplug the appliance and take the top off.

Look for the carbon brush fitting that connects a wire to the drum.

Check to see if the carbon brush has worn out or broken.

If ok, and if it's in contact with the strip around the drum, it suggests a wiring or control board fault.

.

Let me know what you find.

.

Thanks

Customer: replied 3 years ago.
Where is this located at the front or back
Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.

Hiya,

Depends on the pnc of your machine.

Look at the drum, there should be a metal band around it, either on the front of the drum or around the larger part.

.

Click here for a picture of the part you are looking for

Within that part is the carbon brush.

.

Thanks

Customer: replied 3 years ago.
Ok found it no obvious strip around the drum but the device is in contact with drum is a spring loaded device
Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.

Hiya,

OK, so if it's ok, it leaves wiring and control board.

.

thanks

Customer: replied 3 years ago.
So what do I do now
Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.

Hiya,

Sorry, if you've checked the carbon brush and the wiring, and they both test ok, you have to start obtaining and fitting parts.

.

If both the checkable components are ok, it leaves the main board as the cause.

.

Thanks

Customer: replied 3 years ago.
While the carbon brush and wiring look ok how do we know that they test ok
Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.

Hiya,

You have to test them using a multimeter.

.

I'll opt out of your question now as I don't think you're going to be able to go any further with this.

It all looks ok, it needs to be tested to confirm.

If you can't confirm the wiring and carbon brush are ok, it's just guesswork.

.

Sorry

Customer: replied 3 years ago.
So no obvious solution then do I still have to pay for this
Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.

Sorry, the solution is in my posts.

Unfortunately, you cannot do the checks and tests.

I can't help with questions regarding payments or your account.

You need to contact customer services for help with these queries.
