Hiya,
Are the spray arms rotating during the wash?
(set them at front to rear position and check during the wash).
.
Check the spray arms, are any of the holes in them blocked?

Thanks
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Haven't time to try that now, can i get back to you? Cycle takes too long, gotta go out.

Expert:  Techdesk replied 2 years ago.
Hiya,
No problem, just post when you can.

Thanks
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Hi I ran rinse cycle a couple of times. Lower arm ok, upper one still at 12 o'clock position as I set it. Rotates freely when pushed by hand. Holes don't seem to be blocked.
Expert:  Techdesk replied 2 years ago.
Hiya,
Thanks for that.
.
Not sure what you mean by "seem not to be blocked".
It's pretty obvious if they are blocked, take the arm off, run water through it, this will help you see if they are blocked.
.
Can you post the model number of the machine please?

Thanks
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Ah, I didn't realise I could take the arm off so easily. Done that now. No blockages.
Model is D18012.
Thanks.
Expert:  Techdesk replied 2 years ago.
Hiya,
Thanks for that.
Unfortunately, I'm not finding such a model.
I've also tried di8012 but still no luck.

Thanks
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Oh sorry, looking again in a better light now the sun has come up - it's D16012. It also says 'Type 12059'.

I'm wondering whether it's the heating element that's gone?

Expert:  Techdesk replied 2 years ago.
Hiya,
The heating element wouldn't stop the top arm going round.
.
Now you've had the arm off, can you recheck and see if it's turning during a wash?
.
When you have it on a wash, does the water get hot?

Thanks
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

No, it stays at 12.00. I'll try a full wash to check about the heat and get back to you. Should I be looking for a repairman in the meantime? Obviously I want it functional for Christmas if at all possible.

Expert:  Techdesk replied 2 years ago.
Hiya
If the arm isn't turning then there's a problem with the wash pump or a diverter valve.
It's not opening to allow water to the top arm.
.
If it's not heating, you also have a fault in the heating circuit.
.
Yes, you need to think about getting someone in to repair this.
There's not much time for an engineer to attend, diagnose, order parts and then get it sorted out.
You could be lucky though.
.
Check the heating to see if this has failed too.
.
Might be worth considering the offer from British Gas.
Fixed price repair that includes parts and labour.

that link doesn't take me to a British Gas off, just to this site again!

Expert:  Techdesk replied 2 years ago.
Hiya,
OK, no idea why it's doing that, I've tried it, it works. The link shows the address too.

Copy and paste the following into a new browser window.

Thanks
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Thanks for that, but they couldn't do it before Christmas, I'll look locally.

The heating in the machine does work, btw, so it's just the rotor arm, you reckon?

Expert:  Techdesk replied 2 years ago.
Hiya,
OK, thanks for that.
.
Is the water being pumped through the top arm?
When it's washing, open the door quickly and see if water is coming out with force.
If it is, it's possibly the arm at fault.
If not, check the supply pipe at the rear inside that the top basket plugs into, if this is damaged, it will be there.
.
Thanks
