We have a Zanussi ZWF1632W washing machine and the rubber door

Customer Question

We have a Zanussi ZWF1632W washing machine and the rubber door ring gets coated with a black oily substance and covers the clothes when we remove them from the machine after the cycle. We have to re-wash them. What causes it and how can we eliminate it?

Hiya,
There's no oil inside the drum or tub of the machine, there's grease in the bearings but not enough to coat the door seal.

Is it black mould that's growing in part of the seal?
or, is the seal completely covered in this substance?

Thanks

Hi there,

I would say black mould and yes it only covers part albeit a large part of the seal mainly from the outer to middle of the seal.

Hiya,
OK, there's no cure to getting the mould off of the seal, you need to get a new seal fitted.
You will also need to aggressively clean the machine out using hot washes and washing machine cleaner.

If you run a rag under the door seal, at the bottom where it meets the inner drum, does it come out covered in gunge?

Thanks
