HI I have a Zanussi zdc 68560w and it is not getting my clothes

Customer Question

HI I have a Zanussi zdc 68560w and it is not getting my clothes dry, doesn't seem to be heating up. I have changed the heater with a new Zanussi one (correct part number) but still has the same problem. Any ideas ??

Hiya,
Can you post the product number (PNC) of the appliance please?
It's on a label in the door recess.
It begins with 9 so you need to prefix the number with A to prevent it being crossed out when posted.

eg. A914419941 00

Thanks

Expert:  Techdesk replied 2 years ago.
Hiya,
Thanks for that.

This brings up a 2013 machine.

If this is right, we'll try and retrieve a stored error code.
The following is translated from an Italian service manual.

1. The equipment must be turned off.
2. turning on the equipment, turning the program selector one position clockwise.
3. Wait until the LEDs are lighter and the "beep" of the buzzer, then simultaneously press the interested
depending on the models.
WARNING THIS OPERATION MUST BE MADE WITHIN 5 SECONDS
4. Keep the buttons pressed until the LEDs start blinking and the buzzer sounds.

Release the buttons.
Turn the dial a further 9 clicks clockwise.

Let me know the error code displayed.
If your machine has no display, look at the start light, count the red flashes, let me know how many.
Count the green flashes, let me know how many.

Now turn off, on and off again.

Thanks
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

HI, I am sorry but this doesn't make much sense to me, what buttons do i need to press simultaneously?

thanks

Expert:  Techdesk replied 2 years ago.
Hiya,
The start button and the button to the left of it.

Sorry, it's come from an Italian service manual, there's no English one.

Thanks

Hi, on the disply E00

Expert:  Techdesk replied 2 years ago.
Hiya,
OK, thanks for that.

That means there's no errors stored or detected.

How old is your machine?

Thanks
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

less than a year old.

Expert:  Techdesk replied 2 years ago.
Hiya,
OK, thanks for that.
Can I ask why you aren't having Zanussi repair this?

I've had a look at the wiring diagrams and apart from a drum sensor the only other thermostat and sensor are on the heater.

As you've replaced the heater it doesn't leave much.

Are you getting any lights on?
Indicating a full bottle for instance.

Thanks
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Hi, No i am afraid not, no lights but i think my wife did allow the bottle to fill on several occasions. Could this have caused an issue?

I haven't really got the time to wait in for a tech to come round and fix it.

Thanks

Expert:  Techdesk replied 2 years ago.
Hiya,
No, it would only affect it if the light was on.

There's not a lot in this machine.
There's a drum sensor and this could cause the problem.
If it's sending the wrong signals, the machine will think the laundry is dry and won't turn the heater on.

The only other alternative is the main control board is at fault.
.
Put the machine into diagnostics again, this time, turn the dial a further 4 clicks instead of 9.

This should turn the drum and power the heater.
Run it for a while then check to see if it's hot inside.

Let me know what you find.
Thanks
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Hi, When I put it into this diagnostic mode a further 4 clicks nothing happens...

Expert:  Techdesk replied 2 years ago.
Hiya,
That's strange, it's supposed to turn on the drum and heater.

turn it off, turn it on and turn it off.
Try again.
See if we can get it to do the diagnostic test.

Thanks
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

HI, I cracked it you have to turn it counter clockwise 4 clicks this then displays 99 and the drum moves and the heater works is it very warm on the back. after the test i went through the process of checking error codes and I am now getting an error code of e32..

Expert:  Techdesk replied 2 years ago.
Hiya,
Sorry, but there's no test point anticlockwise.
OK, that's definitely not what is shown in the service manual.

However, e32 is a sensor circuit fault.
The frequency of the signal is incorrect.

Basically, the sensor and/or control board is at fault.

Sorry, not going to be an easy one to sort out remotely.

I'd hate to guess and get you to replace the wrong thing.

I'll opt out of the question and open it to all .

Hopefully someone will have an answer, and not a guess, for you.

Good luck with it.
Thanks

Ok thank you for your help.

Hi I am Tech Michael let me see if I can help you.
DO you have a multi meter for testing a couple of things?
Thank you

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Yes I do
Expert:  Michael replied 2 years ago.

Hi, I researched this for you ,
This sounds like a matter of a bad switch is all.
Do you have a source for one? Or do you need me to see where you can get one?
Thank you
Tech Michael
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
HI Michael,

That sounds promising, I have just been using "buy spares" (online)at the moment. Is there something you want me to test?

Do you have a part number or a description for the switch?

Thanks

Chris
Expert:  Michael replied 2 years ago.

Let me be sure of something, is there any way you can make the heater turn on from the main control knob settings?
Thank you
Tech Mike
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Hi, yes i can get the machine to heat up when it is in its test mode the display screen shows 99 and it heats up in the drum. when i put it back into normal operation it doesn't heat the drum.

Thanks

Expert:  Michael replied 2 years ago.
Thanks Chris,
This sounds like the thermostat could be bad, if that doesn't do the trick, then unfortunately the main control board will need to be replaced.
Hope this helps
Thanks
Tech Mike
