KevinWhiteJA :

Hi, welcome to Just answer

KevinWhiteJA :

Sorry to hear about your refrigerator issue

KevinWhiteJA :

Please tell me its complete model number

KevinWhiteJA :

and how old is it ?

Customer:

8 yrs old . Where do I find the model no. It is a fridge freezer - freezer at the bottom

KevinWhiteJA :

It starts with E-nr usually located on the door or inside the left side

Customer:

EN153

Customer:

are you there? Any tips onhow to stop the noise

KevinWhiteJA :

If the noise is coming only with the door shut then it seems that the problem is with the fan motor that is bad and needs replacement...however, at times it is caused due to something hitting the fan..you will have to remove everything, unplug the unit and then remove the rear panel to locate the fan motor and check for any ice build up around the fan motor assembly...if there is no ice then you will have to replace the fan motor assembly

Customer:

nothing I can do on my own then?

KevinWhiteJA :

Looking at the age of the unit, the fan motor might be a culprit

KevinWhiteJA :

you can leave it unplugged for few hours so that if there is any ice build up causing the issue it might be solved

Customer:

the nose is coming from the fridge at the back - right hand side.

Customer:

Is there anything you can suggest I do in the short term

KevinWhiteJA :

ok then you can remove rear panel and check for any ice build up

KevinWhiteJA :

what kind of noise was it ?

KevinWhiteJA :

I mean like a loud cracking sound or loud banging sound or something like a fan hitting something ... ?

Customer:

have turned fridge off - no loud whirring/moaning noise

KevinWhiteJA :

looks like a fan motor

Customer:

ok. nothing you can do to help is there

KevinWhiteJA :

You can check for Ice build up...pull it out, take the rear off and check the evaporator fan..if there is no ice build up then replace the fan motor assembly..are you willing to carry out the repair yourself ?
