To be honest if its over heating its usually down to a faulty control board. As the heater relay on the board can stick and cause it to over heat.
Now you can test the thermistor to rule it out.
Remove the rear cover and at the bottom of the drum you will see the heater.
In the middle is 2 small wires. This is the thermistor. If you have a multi meter you need to test the resistance of this. It should be about 10 Kohms. As the temperature changes the resistance will drop. So if this is fine then all that's left is the control board.
Now when this is replaced it will also need to be reprogrammed as well.

is the control board the board down at the left hand side at the bottom, actually to the left of the cover at the bottom, if heater cuts out during the programme is it normal for it to come back on again
Yes that's it that's the main control board on the back.
And no its normal for the heater to cut out
during the program and then come back on.
As when you set it going on a wash cycle it will heat till it reaches its temperature its set to then the heater will go off and it shouldn't come back on.
If its coming back on and over heating its because the control board is faulty and telling it to.
is the control board what Buy Spares call the PCB Board
Yes but if you are buying one please note they are sold un programmed. You
also need to buy the software to program it up which will cost another £140 for the card reader and smart card.
Worth trying these as they sell refurbished boards already programmed up.
Is there anything else you need as the question is still open?
If not if you could rate the service that would be great.
