We have a Hotpoint TCYM 750C Condensing tumble dryer and the start button will not come off the on position. The only way to operate the machine is by switching the unit on and off at the power plug. Can you help, please?

Hiya,
OK, thanks for that.
Out of warranty in that case.

Can you check the model number please?
I'm not finding this one.

Thanks

Hiya,
Thanks for that.
It hasn't made it to the technical site yet.

However, I've found the machine and it's parts list.

You refer to the on/off switch.
Just to confirm, is this the start button that you refer to?

Thanks

Yes

Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.
Hiya,
Thanks for that.

There's only 2 possible reasons for the button to stick like this.
A broken switch where the spring isn't pushing the button back out, or, there's gunge/debris jamming the button.

Unplug the appliance.
Take the top off.
See if the switch has come adrift first.
If the switch is still in place, you need to lever the button out and off.
Then, remove the switch.

Fit the new switch, fit the button and it'll be running as it should again.

If it's just the button sticking, clean out the facia where the button fits into and clean the button.
Replace the button and it should be fine again.

If the switch has come adrift, it's normally the thin bits of plastic that hold it in place that have snapped.
For this, you need a new switch.

If you need a switch and/or button, check the likes of www.espares.co.uk

The switch is part number C00112121 and the button is C00287203

Check it out, see what you find and get back to me if you need more help.
Hope this helps
Thanks
