I have a w5420x0GB washing machine which trips the rcd on wash

Resolved Question:

I have a w5420x0GB washing machine which trips the rcd on wash cycle ,I can hear it click as it goes through the procedure , then before it reaches the rince cycle it trips machine.
If I twist control past wash cycle everything works ok.
I have checked heating element reading 26ohms
Motor brushes are approx. 1 1/2 in length

Any idea's

Hiya,
Disconnect the heater.
It will extend the program time to around 4 hours but, try it and see if it trips.

Even though you get the correct resistance it can still be a faulty heater.
As it heats up, the insulation resistance drops (this is measured in meg ohms) until it's so low it trips the rcd.

If it's emptying before it trips, let me know.

Try it, let me know what happens.

It seems to have passed the problem . Now will buy a heater element.
Thanks for that , I will remember that.
Is changing the rubber seal an easy job , as it is heavily stained . I was going to remove it and soak in a bowl of bleach.

Hiya,
Yes, the seal is fairly straight forward.
You take the front off of the machine and you then have full access to the clamp or spring holding the seal to the tub.

To remove the front, unplug the machine.
Take the dispenser drawer out.
Take the plastic cover below the front panel off.
Take the screws holding the front panel at the bottom, out.
Take the seal retaining ring holding the seal to the front panel out.
Peel the seal off of the front panel.
Take the screws off of the door lock.
Take the bottom right screw in the dispenser out.
Push the panel down a little and lift it off of the machine.

I must thank you for excellent service and knowledge , only hassle I had was putting spring band back on outside of drum , but removed the door was easier.
