I have a Zanussi Electrolux Progress 1400. It has stopped mid-wash.

Customer Question

I have a Zanussi Electrolux Progress 1400. It has stopped mid-wash. There is no error code, but it is locked, and pressing the start does not restart it, it just continues flashing. Can I fix it, and how do I get my washing out?

Hiya,
Is there a pattern to the flashing?
If there is, how many flashes?

Thanks
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Display appears as normal, and shows wash time etc for whatever is selected. The Start button just flashes as if it is waiting for me to press start. There is no pattern, just its regular flashing.

Hiya,
OK, thanks for that.
Without a model number it's hard to know which machine you have.

Is there a model number on the facia?

Has the machine stopped full of water?
Can you cancel and select a new program?
What happens if you select spin only?

Thanks
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Tried various other programs with no avail - it will not restart or unlock. This includes spin only, dry etc. Machine is full of water and locked.

Model is ZWD 1472 W.

Hope this helps

Hiya,
OK, thanks for that.

Switch off.
Press and hold together the start and skip buttons.
While holding, switch on.
The lights flash, release the buttons and the lights scroll.

Press and release repeatedly the fabric button until you get the bottom led of the 2nd column lit.
You'll see a code displayed, let me know the code.

Now turn off, on and off again.

Thanks

E51. Machine is now beeping, 5 long beeps and then a pause.

Hiya,
Have you turned it off, on and off again?
If not, do so now.

Thanks
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Done. Still showing E51 with the beeps. However on a second on / off the error disappeared. Back to the locked door and no response to start

Hiya,
OK, thanks for that.
It will be as it was, all we've done is retrieve a stored error code.

The error code indicates the main control board has failed on the motor circuit.
This can be caused by a faulty motor, damaging the main board.

You'll need to manually drain the water out at the filter by slackening it a little and draining into a shallow dish.
Tighten it when you need to empty the dish.

Once it's empty, unplug the machine, wait 5 minutes and you should be able to open the door.

To sort the problem out, you need, at least, a new main control board.
You may also need a motor.

Check it out, see if you get it open and get back to me if you need more help.

Hope this helps
Thanks
