Hi, my name is XXXXX XXXXX I have been in the home improvement and repair field for 20 years. I will be very glad to help you today. There is a way to open it but it is not supposed to. You can take a string and slide it between the door and seal. Slide the string holding the string above and below the door and slide the string past the latch.

Customer: Will try it now. I suspect the problem is mechanical. The open button has always been tricky to operate. Maybe ut is just old and sticking or something- in which case it will happen again. Will try now and let you know
canuck the pro :

Very good. It will have to be a bit of a strong string. Sounds like you have a good grasp on what has been explained. If it sounds like a latch tries to open but it is getting stuck it may just be a matter of some silicone spray on the moving parts on the latch. Do not use petroleum products for lubricant. If it gets on any seals it will damage them.

Customer: Have managed to get string inside seal. I can see it but nothing happening. There is no latch as such just the opening button. I cannot see how you can introduce some spray.
canuck the pro :

The spray is for after the door is open. I know this is a different washer model here is a video of what I am suggesting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSF4JS2B_U0

canuck the pro :

Have you been able to open the door?

It took a long while but finally the door did open! Have lubricated all round and mechanism is free but will not know if open button operates until we do a trial blank wash. The machine is old and probably not worth an expensive engineer visit. However many thanks for the useful advice!

You are very welcome! If there’s anything else I can do, let me know – it’s been a pleasure working with you and I hope to assist you again soon! How much insulation should I put in my attic?
