I have a Rangemaster side by side fridge freezer which is leaking

Resolved Question:

I have a Rangemaster side by side fridge freezer which is leaking - probably out of the back or underneath (it is built into units). Refrigeration and ice dispenser seem to be working ok. Cannot find and engineer to come and sort out - one booked for yesterday did not show.
Another said it was a plumbing problem. Plumber thought t was a fridge problem!
What needs tone down and can you recommend someone suitable to sort out.

hiya,
Inside the freezer compartment, is there ice/water under the bottom basket?

Your side by side should pull out from between the units so you can look into the underside.

Can you post the model number from the label in the fridge please?

Thanks

Model number is XXXXX

There is no water in base of freezer or fridge.

I have not managed to pull out F/F but will give it another try.

F/F pulled out.

It is wet underneath.

NOt obvious where coming from

Hiya,
Thanks for that.

Unfortunately, I've nothing on this model.
It looks like a rebadged Samsung but, without service documents, I can't be sure.

I'll opt out of the question and open it to all again.
See if anyone has the service documents.

Sorry

Hiya,
OK, no one picking up so we can do some general checks to see what we find.

If you have the machine out, take the panel at the bottom rear off.
You'll need a torch.

Have a look inside and see where the water is.

Let me know what you find.

Thanks

Actually have now found source of water seems to be from hosing between the back of fridge and the white plastic reservoir thing i.e. not fridge and not the fixed plumbing. Do I need a plumber or a fridge engineer to replace that ?

Thanks

I have turned off the water to the back of the fridge. Is it alright to leave it off until get someone to fix the hose. I presume it just means can't use cold drinks dispenser.

Do I need a plumber or a fridge engineer to replace the hose ? Seem to get demarcation disputes between them when something goes wrong!

Thanks

Hiya,
Is it the hose leaking or the reservoir?
Is this a filter unit on the rear of the machine?

Yes, turn off the water and switch off the ice maker.
You won't get ice or water until it's sorted out.

If it's the hose, it's a whitegoods engineer you need.

Plumber is only the water supply upto the appliance, anything on/inside the appliance should be the whitegoods engineer.

You may have problems getting one to work on Rangemaster though.

Copy and paste the following into a new browser window, fill in your details and see if you get any engineers listed.

If no one there, you could British Gas for their fixed price repair offer.
They charge £125 inclusive of parts and labour, no charge if they can't repair it.

Check it out, see how it goes and get back to me if you need more help.
Thanks

It is definitely the hose but the fridge side of the reservoir (not sure if it is a filter) .

Have gathered that difficult to get rangemasters serviced, especially at the weekend. But now water stopped can wait until tomorrow and see who is available.

Do I have to turn off the ice maker separately?

Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.

Hiya,

Normally you can turn the ice maker off at the control panel.

If it's off, it won't call for water and get confused.

Good luck with the repair.

Thanks
