my hotpoint (about 18 months old) will not switch on at all.

Resolved Question:

my hotpoint (about 18 months old) will not switch on at all. There seems to be no electric input but I have checked plug and fuse and both are working.

OK, please unplug it completely ... then plug it back after 3 minutes and simultaneously press & hold the START button for around 20 seconds

no change, I'm afraid

is it completely dead ?

or does any lights come up ?

No lights, completely dead

ok, can you try to clean the drain pump filter assembly located at the bottom of the unit

KevinWhiteJA :

make sure the unit is unplugged while you do that

KevinWhiteJA :

if something is stuck in there it wont come on as well

Customer:

Took off the cover and pulled out filter (water came out, nothing else) so how do I clean it?

KevinWhiteJA :

Well if it is already cleaned and still it is dead then the problem is with the electronic control that will need replacement

Customer:

Expensive i am guessing?

these parts are covered under 2 years of warranty so it will be better to contact the manufacturer and get it done under warranty
