Hi, I have a Bosch Maxx 5 washing machine. Ive just used

Resolved Question:

Hi,

I have a Bosch Maxx 5 washing machine. I've just used it and it is smoking and smelling of burnt rubber. Also, little bits of plastic or rubber have been left in the drum. The drum is struggling to turn a bit and therefore making an abrasive noise. Is this repairable or terminal.

Thanks,

Mark

Hiya,
Lift the inner drum gently, is it loose?

Thanks
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Not really and it will barely turn now

Hiya
Thanks for that.

There's 2 possible causes.
The bearings and drum support have failed, jamming the drum and forcing it forward so it's been rubbing on the seal.

There's something got between the inner and outer drum, forcing it forward onto the seal (an item of clothing).

Either one would require a complete strip down of the machine to sort it out.

How old is the machine?

Thanks

It's about 5 years. Is it worth repairing or get another one?

Hiya,
It depends on what you think it's worth spending on it.

If it's the bearings and drum support it would cost more to repair it than having a fixed price repair from the likes of Knowhow (Currys) or British Gas.

You'd be looking at £125 with British Gas if it can be repaired and no charge if they can't repair it.

A new Bosch would cost quite a bit more.

I'm afraid only you can decide whether it's worth repairing or not.

Have a think on it, get back to me if you need more help or information.

Hope this helps
