Washing machine S 14-38 This machine refuses to spin when

Customer Question

Washing machine S 14-38
This machine refuses to spin when it has bed linen or towels in.
We have had engineers out several times who have told us we need to put a full hot water bottle in with the load. This works but surely that can't be right. They have all said that these machines are so finely engineered that they can't cope with these loads!
Thank you

Hiya,
It's all down to balance.
If the machine cannot balance the load, it won't spin.

How many towels do you have in?
What size are they?

Bedding will always be a problem due to the fact it tends to "knot" itself in the wash.

Thanks

Usually one bath sheet, one bath towel, one hand towel. I never ever overload it

Hiya,
OK, that's most likely why it won't spin, it cannot balance the load.
Double the load and it should help it balance and spin.

You can cause the problem by not having enough load in the machine.

Try it with a larger load, see if it spins.

Let me know what happens.
Thanks

Relist: Answer quality.
Other machines cope with all my laundry- why doesn't the seimens? I am incredulous that I'm told to put more laundry in and bedding always gets in a knot....
Appliance guidelines always say not to overload!

nothing wrong with the answer quality

engineers have attended the machine and told you to add a hot water bottle, that's increasing the load

if you had been willing to try the suggestions then I would have advised further on the bedding issue.

I'll opt out of the question as you aren't prepared to accept the advice is correct, even though I work on these day in day out and know how they actually work.

I have tried loading more washing in, several times as you have suggested.
If you wish to opt out so be it
