Hiya,
F43 indicates a motor circuit fault.

How old is the machine?

Thanks
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

bought September 2011

Hiya,
OK, thanks for that.
Normally only a 2 year warranty.

It could be a spurious fault so try and erase the code.

You may have to try this a few times.

Turn the knob to off.

Close the door.

Turn the knob to 6 o'clock position.

Wait 2 seconds.

The start/pause should begin flashing.

(If the start button doesn't flash, just carry on trying to erase the codes).

Press and hold the spin button. (it may be marked RPM)
Turn the knob to 7 o'clock position.
Wait 2 seconds.
Release the button.
Turn the knob to off.

Try it, let me know how it goes.

Thanks

Hiya,
OK, thanks for that.

Have you checked the carbon brushes in the motor and the wiring to the motor?
If not, it's worth checking.

I wouldn't have expected the carbons to wear out in 2 years though, rather quick for Siemens.

Have a look, let me know what you find.

Thanks

I think maybe I'll just have to get a siemens engineer out - hoped that there might a simple fix

I don't know how to check carbon brushes

Hiya,
If it's a motor and/or control board fault, Siemens would be the most expensive for a repair.

Their call out is just short of £100.
However, it's worth calling them as I believe they now offer a repair and extended warranty for a fixed fee.

Failing that, British Gas and Currys (Knowhow) offer fixed price repairs that include parts and labour.

Around £125 from British Gas, if they cover your area.
Not sure what Currys charge.

Check it out, see what you find and get back to me if you need more help.

Hope this helps
Thanks
