Hi, I have an indesit DI620 uk dishwasher which has stopped

Resolved Question:

Hi, I have an indesit DI620 uk dishwasher which has stopped running mid cycle and now has buttons 1 & 2 flashing.

I have attempted to reset it by turning the power off for 5 minutes. Unfortunately they are still flashing?

Any suggestions?

Hiya,
Has the machine stopped full or empty of water?

Thanks
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
It had a small amount of water in it, More than normal. I have pulled out the filter and removed general food waste

Hiya,
OK, if it hasn't fully drained, the drain pump or drain hose is blocked.

Lights 1 and 2 flashing indicate a time out draining.

Are you able to cancel and select a new program?
If you are, when you start the new program, do you hear the drain pump hum?

Thanks
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
I did manage to cancel and set it to program 4 and heard a low humming noise and then went to 1 & 2 flashing again.

It's inbuilt, do I need to take it out completely?
Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.
Hiya,
I'm afraid so.

Pretty difficult machine to work on.

Unplug it.
Manually empty the water.
Take it out (disconnect the services if necessary)

Take the 2 screws at the front and the 2 at the back holding the base to the cabinet out.

Put towels down and lay it on it's back.
Take the base panel off (the float switch is attached to the base)

You can now access the drain pump.
To find it, follow the drain hose into the machine and it's attached to the drain pump.

Take the drain pump off.
Remove the debris blocking it.

Reassemble and reconnect the machine.

If all is well, it will be working again.

Check it out, see how it goes and get back to me if you need more help.

Hope this helps
Thanks

Hi, how does the drain pump come off, it seems pretty solid
Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.
Hiya,
There's several versions of the machine but the most common is a pump that twists off.

Look for a screw or locking tab.
It then twists off.
Be sure to take the drain hose off first.

One version the pump motor is screwed onto the housing.

Thanks

Ok, I've tried that and put it back together, just tested it and the same has happened, I have 1and 4 flashing at me. There didn't appear to be excessive dirt or any blockages in the pump.

Any other thoughts?
Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.
Hiya,
It's not the same.
1 and 2 was the original fault, now it's 1 and 4.

1 and 4 is a software recognition fault.
Main board faulty.

Check the wiring, make sure it's all ok.
Try again.

Thanks
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
My apologise, it is still 1 and 2. Well spotted on my poor typing.

Hiya,
OK, does the drain pump actually run?

Thanks
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
It's making a small vibrating sound as if it wants to. Can't say 100% tho. It's tried for a bit longer this time and again gone to 1 and 2 flashing.

Hiya,
OK, take the right side panel off.
You should find a pressure switch there, take the thin tube attached to it off.

Blow into the tube, back into the sump bowl.
Blow hard and as long as you can.

Reconnect the tube to the pressure switch.
Try the machine again.

What happens?
Thanks
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
With the machine turned on or isolated off?
Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.
Hiya,
Always unplugged.

Thanks
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
I have blown hard and it has created bubbles in the bottom of the dishwasher floor in side.
Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.
Hiya
And what happened when you tried the machine?

Thanks
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
It started making a difference noise like water going in or water being pumped out. It is now flashing 1 and 3?
Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.
Hiya,
OK, the pressure switch is now stuck on empty.

Check the pressure tube again.

It looks like you may have debris in the sump that is blocking the tube.

Thanks
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
Hi, I still can't get it going. Any other suggestions
Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.
Hiya,
OK, I need more detail.

What is the machine doing now?

Thanks
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
It is flashing 1 and 3 and fills when I turn it on and then stops
Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.
Hiya,
OK, it's not sensing the water coming in.

You either have a faulty pressure switch or the pressure chamber is blocked.

Originally, your pressure switch was stuck on full, now it's stuck on empty. This really points to a blockage in the pressure chamber.

Take the tube off the pressure switch again and take the loop out of it.
Lay it low into a dish.
Pour some boiling water into the sump bowl and get it flowing out of the tubing.

Once that is running and clear, refit the tube and then try the machine again.

Hope this helps
Thanks

Hi, I've ran hot water through the black hose from the pressure switch and re-tried the machine. MIT has again gone to the 1 and 3 flashing lights.

Where next please?
Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.
Hiya,
Sorry, it's going to need parts replacing.

When you start it now, what is the exact sequence the machine goes through?
Is the water to the machine on?

Thanks
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
Water and power to machine is on. The red light next to the power button isn't working / on and hasn't been since I've had this problem.

I turn on the power, set it to number 3. Small faint noise starts, Running water noise in side then begins, water runs in. Wait for a few minutes and it normally kicks in, but now goes to the 1 and 3 code.

??
Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.
Hiya,
OK, sorry, but this is suggesting a fault in the pressure system.
Check the pressure hose, see if it's holed, a tiny hole would give the symptoms you describe.

A faulty control board and a faulty wash motor would too, but as the code changed, it's pointing to the pressure system.

You need to check the pressure tube, if it's ok, test the circulation motor.

Approx. what would be a cost for an engineer to attend and work his magic?
Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.
Hiya,
Indesit do a fixed price repair, parts and labour included, for around £120.

You need to call them for their latest repair plans and prices though.

Thanks
