Hiya,
Is the compressor running?
If it is, is it very hot?

Is there any cooling inside the freezer?
Look inside the grille at the top of the freezer compartment. Is it blocked with ice?

Thanks

Hi

Compressor is running but doesn't seem to be hot, just warm.

There was some ice in the grill. I've broken it up a bit but can't easily remove it.

The freezer is cooling but hasn't so far reached -16 let alone the desired -18.

The alarm is now sounding as I've had the door open to break up the ice. Will it stop when it cools or do I need to cancel the alarm.

Hiya,
OK, thanks for that.

The problem you have is the evaporator (behind the grill) is blocked with ice, the fan is unable to circulate cold air inside the freezer compartment.

Unplug the appliance, leave it with the door open for at least 24 hours in a warm room to fully defrost. (the longer you can leave it the better).

Once it's fully defrosted, plug it in, close the door and all being well it should cool properly.

If you want to speed up the defrost, take the grill and panel covering the evaporator off and use external warmth (a blow heater aimed into the compartment) to help defrost the ice blockage.

The alarm is sounding due to the high temperature inside the freezer.
You can cancel it but it's not going to work properly until the ice blockage is cleared.

Hope this helps
Let me know how it goes or if you need more help
Thanks

Thanks. I'll get back when I've gone through the process.
