Customer Question

I have a Hotpoint WMA58 washing machine. The machine fills with water at the start of the programme, but the drum doesn't rotate on any of the wash programmes, nor does it spin when set on one of the spin cycles.

Hiya,
Hopefully you have good diy skills.

The first thing to check is the carbon brushes on the motor.

Unplug the appliance.
Take the top and rear panel off.
Take the belt off.
Take the motor off.
Unplug the motor and take it out of the machine.
(tilt the machine a bit to slide the motor out from underneath).

Take the brushes off and see if they've worn out.

Let me know what you find.
Thanks

It may take some time to get back to you on doing all of that. But one other thing, your website keeps asking for my email, which I have submitted, but it comes back with the message "that email address is already taken". Well that's quite true it's mine, so it's taken by me!!

Hiya,
OK, no problem for the motor, for the rest, you need to contact customer services.

Thanks

I have installed the new carbon brushes in the motor and now the washing machine is up and running once again.

Hiya,
Thanks for letting me know.
Glad you got it up and running.

Good luck with the appliance.

I'd appreciate it if you could rate the answer I gave, positively.
This is how I'm paid for my time and efforts.

Thanks
