Resolved Question:

My U1461 main oven door is falling off on the right side. The hinge seems as strong on that side as on the left side but does not seem to catch on to the oven frame

Hiya,
There should be screws on the oven where the hinges go into.
Check to see if they are tight.
They hold the hinge receiver in place.

Thanks

I have tightened them. The right one was loose but is now tight. The door still falls off.

Hiya,
OK, if the hinges are both ok, they should have a slot on the underside that mates with the hinge receiver.

Lock the hinges open, fit them into the hinge receivers and ensure the slots go down onto the receivers.

Now unlock them and try the door.

If still the same, post the E-Nr number of the appliance from the label in the oven door recess.

Thanks

The hinge just slides off the frame. It is though the toe of the hinge is not catching underneath something. Looking through the slot I cannot see any difference between the left and right interiors. Probing with a small screwdriver feels the same.

The E-Nr number is XXXXX

Hiya,
OK, thanks for that.

To determine if it's a hinge or hinge receiver fault, take the oven out and take the side panels off.
Swap the hinge receivers over.

Fit the door, if the same hinge is falling out, it's the hinge that's faulty.
If the other hinge now falls out, it's the hinge receiver that's faulty.

The hinge receivers have 1 screw on the front and 1 on the bottom.

Let me know what you find.
Thanks

Hiya,
No problem..

Thanks
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Door is now fixed. Problem was a broken latching point in the hinge receiver. Fixed with a bolt. Actually swapped hinge receivers in top and bottom ovens so that weakened receiver now carrying less weight.

Was shocked how many screws used to fix ovens sides together. Not the easiest to open especially as hinge receiver also held in by screw through bottom frame.

Thanks for your help.

Hiya,
You're very welcome.
Glad you got to the root cause of the fault.

The receivers are still available if you want to replace the faulty one.

Hope this helped
